ABBA simply was a pop group out of Sweden who made music between the years of 1972 and 1983. However, when you dig in deeper, ABBA was one of the most popular groups of its generation, made up of a spirited quartet which made up the group's name with their own names' first initials: Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
In their 11-year career, ABBA released eight studio albums, nearly all of which reached #1 in Sweden and Norway, but never broke through as a Top-10 record in the United States. However ABBA's music continues to live on today, being played at clubs who specialize in disco and pop music from the 1970s. ABBA also has a huge fan base around the globe who continue to shower the group online with fan pages, streaming audio sites, and other multimedia homages.
Their music is also immortalized in a musical (and subsequent movie version) entitled Mamma Mia.
