Alanis Nadine Morissette was born on June 1, 1974 in Ottawa Canada. A child prodigy, Alanis starred in the popular children's television variety show You Can't Do That on Television when she was just ten years-old, and signed her first record contract in with MCA/Canada a few years later. She released two pop-inspired albums before moving to California in an effort to rejuvenate her music career.
Alanis Morissette collaborated with songwriter-producer Glen Ballard on the 1995 album Jagged Little Pill. With sales in excess of 30 million, the album's edgy rock sound proved to be a massive hit with audiences worldwide and remains the highest selling debut album in music history.
With 5 albums and 7 Grammy awards to her name, Alanis is famous for introspective lyrics and radio-friendly hooks. Her music repertoire includes popular chart-toppers like: You Oughta Know, Ironic, Uninvited and Thank U.
Alanis appeared as God in the film Dogma and made a memorable cameo on an episode of Sex And The City where she shared an on-screen kiss with lead-actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
Alanis Morissette caused headlines in early 2007 when it was announced that her engagement to actor Ryan Reynolds had come to an end.
