Aries is one of the three signs associated with the element of fire. As a cardinal sign, the first sign of the season of Spring, Aries brings rebirth, a desire for change and fresh ideas.
The creative spark of fire and pioneering spirit are key attributes associated with Aries. Aries is a ram, and often an excellent leader, initiating new ideas, pushing forward and removing obstacles with sheer force. Without persistence, they may have trouble following existing projects through to completion.
Two thousand years ago, when western astrology divided the sky into twelve sections, the constellation Aries contained the point where the sun crossed the vernal equinox point. (This point has now shifted into Pisces, and is moving towards Aquarius.)
The constellation Aries is small and faint. In the southern hemisphere, Aries starts to rise in the evening sky at the beginning of summer. In the northern hemisphere, it is visible in the winter months near Orion and the Pleiades.
