Bikes is a unique word; it has two completely different meanings to different people. To one group bike means bicycles, with the chain connected to pedals. The other side are on their motorcycles with the chains getting power from engines.
Both camps are global and have many subgroups within their world. The bicycle world has mountain bikes, racing bikes, BMX bikes, touring bikes, tandems, utilitarian bikes, urban bikes, bike trailers, and other bike accessories and clothing just to name a few! Each of these groups has their own culture and blogs.
The motorcycle world has many of the same subgroups: trail bikes, racing bike, touring bikes, choppers, scooters, bike accessories and clothing just to name a few! And cultures...the Harley and it's culture started out as infamous and has grown plain old famous these days. Say, "Sturgis" to the right person and you've got a new friend.
Both camps do have several things in common: long discussions about helmets, about where the butt hits the bike, about which manufacturer is best; and how the car world treats their bikes.
What a great word!
