As the blogosphere has blossomed over time, writers who have been happily writing on the Internet probably began to wonder at one point or another "How many people are reading my blog?" or "Where do I rank amongst my peers in popularity in the world of blogs?"
One of the first companies to take an algorithmic crack at ranking blogs available on the Internet was Technorati. Technorati offers an ever-updating list of the Top 100 Blogs ranked by what they call Authority, which is simply the amount of links a blog has to it from other blogs within the last six months. This ranking is generally seen as the most authoritative look at how blogs rank in the world today.
Other sites have also tried their hand at blog rankings, including entities such as Blog Rankings, Salon.com, and Technoranki.
