U.S. cable channel Cartoon Network, is part of the Turner Broadcasting family. Started in 1992 it ran classic cartoons (Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, The Jetsons, etc.) 24 hours a day. In 1995 the channel added exclusive original content such as Dexter's Laboratory, Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy and The Powerpuff Girls. To start off the new millinium, Cartoon Network would be home of the entire Warner Bros. catalogue with characters Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Tweety Bird, to name a few.
By 2004 the Cartoon Network had grown so much that more changes were needed. Those classic animations moved to a new home on sister station Boomerang. The channel embraced CGI graphics to keep up with the times as well as programming in blocks of time that showed like materials together. Afterschool Throwdown airs weekdays with Dynamite Action Squad on Saturday mornings.
Cartoon Network has acknowledged that animation is not just for kids with [adult swim], a nighttime block aimed at the 17+ age group using animated comedy series and shorts. Some of the shows on air in 2008 include Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken and Metalocalypse.
