Swag is a catch-all term for free stuff, most often used to describe promotional items used in the marketing of entertainment such as music and movies. The term is believed to be an acronym for "stuff we all get." For mere mortals, swag can mean something as simple as a free CD. But for celebrities, the next red carpet can also represent a mother lode of swag.
The more grandiose gift bags handed out to luminaries at industry events like trade shows and awards ceremonies are referred to as celebrity swag. Depending on who you are, these celebrity "swag bags" can include everything from expensive jewelry or designer clothes, to meals, cars, or trips. Advertisers and marketers often jockey for positioning their products based on which celebrities endorse them by eating, driving, or wearing them.
Celebrity swag blogs can be found on the Internet at sites like swagraves and Mommy Needs A Cocktail. For the "regular folk," there are also numerous swag blogs out there for your own surfing and swagging pleasure.
