With the proliferation of streaming video and Media Center PCs, as well as increased resolution of video available on the Web, there is increased demand for the ability to watch video from your computer on your television in the living room.
There are various ways to do this. Some devices like Microsoft's Xbox series of consoles allow you remote access to your data from afar, often wirelessly. The more direct route would be to run a cable directly from the system to the television, as technology is almost even there now. Between DVI, HDMI, and SVGA, modern HDTVs can accept signals directly from the PC. It's as simple as running the appropriate cable out from your computer's video card and into the correct connector on the TV, switching input sources, and queing up your content. The HDTV can even be used as a PC monitor all the time.
Longer range solutions like the SlingBox exist that allow you to access and watch video and other content on your home PC or DVR on a mobile device, or even a TV far from home.
