A coupon is a document, article, certificate, or written code granting the holder benefits such as a gift or discount on products or services.
"Brick and Mortar" (those stores you drive to in your car) and online stores use coupons to create a value added experience to drive users to purchase from their store. Some stores will actually accept competing coupons. Some stores will only accept coupons directly sent to you and not allow you to use them if you got them from a coupon site if they were actually for someone else.
Coupon sharing blogs and websites have proliferated with the advent of the internet due to its fast access to interested users almost immediately. Coupons have created a new online market economy and are an example of capitalism thriving at its best.
Writers should tag their blogs with "coupon" when they have coupons and/or information related to using or acquiring coupons contained within, though coupons don't need to be the primary focus of the blog.
