There are two common types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2. In type 1, the body attacks its own pancreas and destroys the insulin producing cells. Insulin is the key that unlocks cells that glucose can enter. Without this key, glucose builds up, the blood turns acidic, and eventually causes death. In type 2 diabetes, the body becomes insulin resistant. One still produces insulin, but the keyhole is rusty and glucose can't efficiently get into the cell.
Regardless of the type of diabetes, the symptoms are very similar. Because your body is not able to utilize glucose for fuel, it turns to fat and then muscle to get energy. This causes weight loss. You will also feel the urge to urinate frequently as your body tries to remove the excess glucose in the bloodstream. Finally, you will feel constantly hungry because your cells are unable to get glucose and slowly starving.
Because diabetes is so common, many blog to get help in determining if they may be showing diabetes symptoms.
