For centuries, there has been correspondence between people from both close and faraway places. People send letters, packages, and postcards to each other by the millions on a daily basis. In the late 20th Century, email became a popular way of sending messages to these same people, but now being able to do it much faster than ever before, almost instantaneously.
With the advent of this new technology, people wanted ways to send more than just plain text to someone. With that, the invention of free e-cards. Free e-cards are basically digital representations of greeting cards which users can send to each other via the Internet. They usually contain graphics, both still and moving, and a typed message from the sender.
Some of the bigger companies which offer a variety of free e-cards are 123 Greetings, Blue Mountain, and traditional card-maker, Hallmark.
