American actor, writer, director and producer George Timothy Clooney was born on May 6, 1961 in
Lexington, Kentucky. He is best known for his role as Dr. Doug Ross on the popular medical drama ER.
George Clooney has had a bumpy ride up the Hollywood ladder. He started acting at the age of 21, and after appearing in more than a dozen failed television shows, he finally got his big break on ER. He called it quits in 1999 after five years and left the show to pursue a film career.
Clooney's impressive filmography includes roles in: The Thin Red Line (1998), Out Of Sight (1998), Three Kings (1999), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Michael Clayton (2007), as well as a role in the popular Ocean's Eleven series alongside Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon. He won the "Best Supporting Actor" Academy Award in 2005 for his role in the geographical thriller Syriana.
In 2006, George Clooney was voted as the "Most Influential Man In The World" by the readers of popular online men's magazine AskMen.com.
On January 31, 2008 the United Nations named Clooney a "Messenger of Peace."
