Home Theater refers to the installation of (generally higher quality) audiovisual equipment in the home for watching movies and television with a theater-like experience. Generally, a TV alone does not make a "home theater" system. Home Theaters have, at minimum, a large display - either flat-panel (Plasma or LCD) or an installed projector and screen - as well as an installed surround system.
Other components that can be found in a home theater system include media servers, VCRs, DVD or Blu-Ray players, mp3 players or satellite radio systems, digital video recorders and satellite or cable boxes. Extremely high-end home theaters can also include touch panel control systems, motorized shades and screens, controlled lighting, and special media-room furniture which can range from movie-theater-like auditorium seats to posh leather couches and recliners that have features that help them optimize the home theater experience.
Blogs that use the tag "home theater" include into-tech.co.uk, cybertheater.com, vhxn.com and gizmosforgeeks.com.
