A hotel provides lodging within a variety of quality levels, and caters to a broad or niche set of short-term guests.
A hotel's quality level is communicated through a five-star rating system. There is no one standard for star ratings, though people often reference third parties like Orbitz, TripAdvisor, or Expedia to research comprehensive star ratings, hotel reviews, and hotel package offerings.
Hotels cater to different types of travelers and can take on many forms. Business or leisure travelers can stay in a bed and breakfast, spa, boutique hotel, luxury hotel, eco-friendly hotel, ski resort, or casino, to name a few.
