Joseph (Joe) Biden Jr became the 47th Vice President of The United States on January 20th 2009, as part of the administration of President Obama. He is the first Roman Catholic and the first Delawarean to hold this office.
Long standing as a Senator from Delaware (From 1973 to the point he stepped down to take the Vice Presidency in 2009), Biden's noted accomplishments include his service on the Senate Foreign Relations Commitee and his work on the Senate Judiciary Committee dealing with various legal issues involving drug policy, civil liberties and crime prevention.
Joe Biden also notably took part in the most highly viewed VP debate ever on October 2nd 2008, as he verbally jousted with Sarah Palin over campaign issues.
