Live Maps is a service from Microsoft currently known by its full name Live Search Maps. Live Search Maps is a service where users can find both simple and complex maps of destinations, as well as find driving, walking, or transit maps between two locations. These services primarily allows users to do these functions for cities in the United States.
Released in late 2005, Live Search Maps has evolved to become one of the top-tier mapping sites on the Internet today. The service received good reviews for its April 2008 update which saw Microsoft offer a slew of improvements, including 3D graphics, GPS capability, and several RSS features.
Some of the main competitors of Live Search Maps are coincidentally also from major search engines and media conglormerates. They include Google Maps, Mapquest, and Yahoo! Maps.
