Marge Simpson entered America's pop culture lexicon in the late 1980s as the doting, do-it-all mother in "The Simpsons," an animated comedy which officially hit the airwaves as its own show in 1989.
Marge, whose full maiden name is Marjorie Bouvier, is the prototypical mother found in a sitcom, but she also has her share of faults, including a gambling problem explored early in the series. Marge also is a talented painter, a one-time police offer, and is against violence of any kind. Time Magazine also selected her as one of their "10 Best Moms Ever" in 2007.
Marge Simpson's voice is done by veteran actress Julie Kavner who played the role of Brenda Morgenstern in "Rhoda" before taking the role with "The Simpsons."
