Celebrity gossip blogger Mario Armando Lavandeira (better known as Perez Hilton) was born on born March 23, 1978 in Miami, Florida. This self-proclaimed "gossip gangsta" has made a career out of cheerfully mocking Hollywoodâs elite on his website PerezHilton.com.
After unsuccessfully trying his hand at acting, Perez started his own celebrity-centric blog entitled Pagesixsixsix, a reference to the New York Postâs famous gossip column. He eventually renamed the site PerezHilton.com in homage to the famous hotel heiress Paris Hilton.
Never one to shy away from controversy, Perez Hilton is famous for outing closeted gay celebrities like Lance Bass and Neil Patrick Harris. He has been sued numerous times over claims of copyright infringement and was sued by DJ Samantha Ronson for defamation of character in 2007.
Perez Hilton caused headlines in April 2009 at the Miss USA pagaent competition. He made derogatory comments about the Miss California representative after she stated that she believed a marriage should be between a man and a woman during the Q&A portion of the show.
Perez was involved in an physical altercation with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas outside a Toronto nightclub in June of 2009.
