A pool may refer to a swimming pool. A swimming pool is a body of water intended for recreation, swimming, diving or water based recreational events. The largest and deepest sizes of swimming pools are Olympic size. A pool may be above or in the ground and could be constructed from concrete, fiberglass, metal or plastic.
Community pools are generally known as public swimming pools; private or residential pools are for single or family use. Many hotels have swimming pools for relaxation. Pools are sanitized by the use of chlorine, bromine or mineral sanitizers to prevent the growth of algae or bacteria. Hot tubs are simply a form of pool that are usually heated to higher temperatures and are used more for the purposes of relaxation and stress relief.
