Prayer might be defined as a conversation between a person and someone not physically present (i.e., a Saint or God). Many people take prayer very seriously, and there are forums and blogs devoted specifically to prayer. Prayer can also be interchangable with the word "thought" in pleasantries such as "I'll be thinking of you" or "My thoughts are with you."
Bloggers many times use the tag prayer in the Judeo-Christian sense of the word, and may tag a post in such a way to illicit prayer from their readers or alternatively to communicate that they are available for prayer or are praying for a specific person. Prayer may also be used in conjunction with a book review or movie review that covers the topic. However, other world religions such as Islam and Hinduism use variations on the same idea, and followers use prayer as a tag as well.
Prayer is generally one of the less devisive tags one can use when speaking about ones faith and religion. To pray for someone or to ask for prayer is a gesture which builds bridges rather than tears them down. Atheists, specifically, however might see prayer as a problem because it promotes hope and faith in something they see as mythical and ultimately untrue.
