Grammy Award-winning singer Rihanna was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados, and went on to achieve superstar status in the music business with the release of Good Girl Gone Bad in 2007. Hit singles on the album included "Umbrella" (earning her a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration) and "Shut Up and Drive," before "Disturbia" from Good Girl Gone Bad Reloaded brought her further acclaim in 2008.
She was signed to Def Jam Recordings by Jay-Z and has sold more than 11 million albums worldwide. A former beauty pageant winner, she went on to become a fashion icon, participating in a beauty campaign as a member of the CoverGirl family while also landing on the front of other magazines such as Elle, In Style and FHM.
While managing to keep her private life out of the public eye most of the time, she reportedly has dated R&B singer Chris Brown and actor Josh Hartnett. In October 2008, she was spotted cuddling with Kanye West.
