Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and little Maggie. Anybody with a TV and a sense of humor can probably name all five characters of The Simpsons without blinking. After all, the FOX show is one of the longest running TV shows in history in any category. But in terms of genres, the show has been on television longer than any other animated program, or any other sit-com.
Today even though a popular opinion is that the show has gone downhill, the breadth of the show's quotes can be found anywhere in pop culture, especially the Internet. Homer's "D'oh!" exclamation has transcended the average Simpsons when it became a word in the dictionary. And when quoting lines from the show, the practice can certainly be addicting.
And even though the show debuted in 1989 long before the YouTube era, streaming videos and clips of the shows can be found at Hulu.com, just in case you have a friend who missed Homer jumping Springfield Gorge on a skateboard.
