SkyDrive is the shorter version of a Microsoft product fully titled Windows Live SkyDrive. Windows Live SkyDrive was initially launched in 2007 by Microsoft as a way for users to download files onto an online storage unit, then accessed from any web browser by the owner of the information, along with anyone else they want to allow access to on the Internet.
SkyDrive was originally released to the public in August 2007, providing buyers with 500 MB of space to download their files of any kind for usage from anywhere one could access the Internet via the WWW. By early 2008, Windows Live SkyDrive shed its "beta" status and began offering 5 GB of storage for its users.
Microsoft also offers visitors a blog from its development team regarding new features and news about their product.
