In the late 1960s, Herb Kelleher and Rollin King sat down and drew a simple triangle on a napkin. The triangle represented the cities of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, the three locales which were to be the foundation of travel for a new airline within the state of Texas. Before too long, Southwest Airlines was up and flying and hasn't looked back, becoming one of the United States' most successful airlines in history.
Since those first fateful years, Southwest has expanded greatly, flying to over 60 cities across the nation, operating over 500 Boeing 737 jets, employing over 30,000 people, and consistently being profitable due to its low-cost model and fuel hedging practices that are envied by other airlines in the industry.
Southwest Airlines also offers a business travel unit known as SWABIZ and its own blog, "Nuts About Southwest."
