It’s safe to say that anyone who drives or knows someone who drives has wither received a speeding ticket or knows someone who has. Speeding tickets are the number 1 driving violation in North America and account for billions of dollars in fines, points and auto insurance increases. It's no wonder then that the internet is filled with thousands of speeding ticket blogs ranging from the humorous to the informative.
History.com reports that the first speeding ticket issued in the United States was in 1904, to a cabbie in Manhattan. He was driving 12mph. A mere crawl compared to the breakneck speed of 272 mph, the fastest speeding ticket ever issued. And yes, you can get a speeding ticket on a bicycle!
On a more serious note, speeding tickets are not very humorous when you see the costs of points and insurance fees. Many people choose to fight a speeding ticket rather than pay it. It should be comforting to know that in many cases, the officer who gave you the citation does not even appear giving you an easy opportunity to win your case. Even so, if you’re going to fight a speeding ticket, make sure you have a qualified lawyer!
Most importantly, speeding also costs thousands of people their lives each year, the main reason why unnecessary speeding has to stop. And the best way to avoid a speeding ticket is to not speed!
