Terror is the emotion a person feels when they sense danger is around the corner. When experienced, terror can cause a "fight or flight response," which is our body's natural response that prepares us to "fight" or "flee" from an attack or perceived threat.
Terror is used in a lot of different ways in today's society. People with political objectives use terror to influence the masses, both by imposing it and protecting us from it. In 9-11, many believe the terrorists used terror in an attempt to topple our financial system. The response to 9-11 was a war on terror to protect us from it. Some religious groups rationalize that terror is justified to be used as a tool to right wrongs committed against their particular group.
In the modern media -- bloggers, the press, television and the movies all use terror as a central theme in many of their productions. From the news headlines to Hollywood, terror is used to get a story across, whether it is to express a point of view or tell a fictional story. Given the state of the world today, there is little doubt terror will be used to achieve a lot of different goals in today's society.
