The abbreviation ‘U.S’ refers to the United States of America; it comprises 50 states and one federal district situated between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
With a total land mass of 3.79 million square miles, and a total population in excess of 300 million, the U.S is the third largest country in the world by land area and population, and the third or fourth largest by total area. The nation was founded by thirteen colonies of Great Britain along the Atlantic seaboard and on the 4th of July 1776 these colonies issued the declaration of independence from Great Britain.
U.S. is the pioneer of many things including commerce. U.S. boasts the largest businesses, the largest weddings, incredibly extravagant resorts and hotels, as well as some of the most popular cities in the world. As well, the U.S. has one of the most privatized health care policies on the planet.
Unless a more specific search phrase is used then the reader is likely to find a host of blog sites referring to the U.S government. The USA.gov blog is an example of one of these sites. Well structured and specific in its content, with numerous sub headings and referral sites.
