The word vehicle describes every mode of transport that we use in society today. A vehicle can literally mean anything from a simple pushbike or bicycle to the latest truck or new car.
The word itself derives from the Latin word ‘vehiculum’ and may also be used to describe other means of transport that are not mechanical or made by humans such as Icebergs or floating tree trunks. Another often used term is motor vehicle. There are also vehicles that can be pushed or pulled by animals such as the horse and cart, chariots, stagecoaches and the canal barge usually drawn by a mule or work horse.
Due to its varied meanings you would need a more specific search than simply searching for ‘vehicle’. However the DMW – or Department of Motor Vehicles – is likely the most authoritative and information website about vehicles and registration.
