Water is essential to all forms of life on Earth. Covering 71% of the planet's surface, it's also the most ubiquitous substance next to that old standby, air.
Throughout human history, we have largely taken water for granted; however, in recent years it's been an increasingly common topic of discussion. Environment-related, lifestyle and political blogs around the world are currently taking on the issues of climate change, water waste, pollution, and clean drinking water. As our relationship to the planet changes, water health and management will continue to demand more attention and debate.
However, water also plays a large part in our recreation and artistic expression. Water-related photography and other types of art fascinate us, as do marine explorers' journeys to the uncharted depths. We travel in boats to fish, to explore, and to cruise. All types of water-related activities can be found on the blogosphere, proving that although we may seem to take water for granted, it is actually (and continually) appreciated in a myriad of ways.
