A camera whose content is automatically made available on the Internet is called a webcam. They are used for a variety of purposes from remote security monitoring to live real time conferencing and chat. Many organizations, businesses and governmental organizations maintain webcams accessible by the public from the Internet to promote their activities.
You can view live content from sites like beaches, national monuments, public streets and even watching pets. Webcams are also used privately for live face-to-face chatting, and for live viewing of erotic performances for a fee. Webcam monitored houses are also popular as entertainment with both adult and more mundane content.
