Worship can be the adoration of a deity or the irrational love of a popular person. Worship can also be a ritual in a sacred place, like a church or temple service.
Phrases like celebrity worship and hero worship have become more popular in the United States as the news media, popular music, and movies raise the public identities of actors, singers, police officers and firefighters.
But worship also has a much different meaning. Christian artists continue to produce albums of contemporary worship music, while some musicians continue to record works of classical music that were based upon liturgical worship, including Rachmaninov's Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom.
Writers on sites like Liturgical Credo's blog use the Internet to address tradition and change in contemporary forms of worship.
