"WTF" is a slang acronym frequently used by bloggers to express a reaction to an alarming or totally unexpected turn of events or, as an extreme, something eliciting shock and awe.
Some blogs' entire focus is on reporting WTF situations, such as The Daily WTF.
Like too many exclamation points in a story, the overuse of the WTF acronym has reduced its impact. It may be used merely as an exclamation of weirdness or a reaction to the bizarre. This weird picture tag site is an example.
The slang WTF acronym means "What the f...!" (No, I will not spell that 4-letter word, not in an article that links to my blog.)
The non-slang WTF acronym has half a hundred meanings.
