California will not be the story. John McCain, once an afterthought, then the front-runner, is seeing his poll numbers in the Golden State sink again. After enjoying leads as high as 19 points, just days after his New Hampshire win, and 13 points, in a CNN/Politico/LA Times poll last week, McCain now owns just a 2-point lead in the latest RCP California Average. The news may be worse than that. A tracking poll for C-SPAN and Reuters, taken by Zogby, shows distinct movement toward McCain's chief opponent in California,

Boss Clinton and the Racial Gambit
African-American Democrats stick with her. Bill Clinton sacrificed South Carolina, for victory on Super Tuesday. We'll see if it worked. P.S.-UPDATE-in support of this idea, the most recent CNN/LA Times poll showed that Hillary's support increased from 42% to 47% in California, with Obama trailing at 32%. The poll was conducted largely after and during Bubba's remarks in South Carolina, but only one of the polling days was after the

Since the South Carolina primary, three “new” polls have come out of California, showing a huge Clinton lead there. - The Politico/CNN/LATimes poll has it Clinton 49, Obama 32, Edwards 14, taken January 23-27. - The Gallup poll has it Clinton 51, Obama 33 in a “high turnout” election and Clinton 47, Obama 35 in a “low turnout,” taken January 23-26.

Why I Will Support the Democratic Nominee This November
Despite the fact that Senator Obama still seems to be trailing in the big Super Duper Tuesday states and faces a decidedly uphill battle for the nomination at this point, I came to a decision this weekend which, frankly, I found surprising even though it was me making it. I spoke about this in a very candid

Buck Naked Politics
11% Those are just a few examples, and I can't wait to compare them to the actual results (hopefully, some time tomorrow night, unless my state's voting machines mess up yet again). Incidentally, a Politico/CNN/L.A. Times poll re: California's (primary on Feb. 5) puts Clinton at 49%, Obama at 32%, and Edwards at 14%. On the Republican side, the poll shows McCain at 39%, Romney at 26%, Giuliani at 13%, and Huckabee at 11%.
