    John Bolton backhands Mike Huckabee

Last month, Mike Huckabee cited John Bolton as an adviser to his campaign, telling an audience that Bolton had "agreed to work with us on developing foreign policy." Bolton, however, was none too pleased at the insinuation, telling the Politico, "I haven't spoken with him yet. And despite the fact that Huckabee came back and told reporters that he had indeed "e-mailed" with Bolton and that The Mustache had agreed to "be part of a group," it still doesn't sound like Bolton is on board with the

After his fibs about his foreign policy advisers, now comes this. Now contrast that with this. And to the Huckleberries, this isn't the MSM making Huckabee look bad, these are his own words. What will be the next fib? [1] He says he supported the surge before Romney did, while under pressure, in

for his lack of foreign policy experience, he listed several people who were serving his campaign as foreign policy advisors, two of whom denied that status. Even the conservative press had a field day with that one: both The Weekly Standard and Politico ran pretty harsh stories on the denials. Mr. Huckabee isn't the only candidate with that kind of problem. Mitt Romney had to do some considerable back-pedaling after it was pointed out that his claim to have seen his father march with the Rev. Martin

a bunker mentality. The best part is his claim that his foreign policy advisers include goofy NY Times columnist Thomas Friedman (Huckabee claims to have read his latest book) and better choices Richard Allen, and John Bolton. The only problem is that Allen and Bolton deny ever talking with him. Then there was purported adviser Frank Gaffney with whom Huckabee had actually spoken once. Check out his assessment of the Huckster which makes him sound like a not-too-bright kid.. Get off the stage Mike, you're stinking out the joint. Or better

smack him down with the truth. Which party are you in again, Huck? In these dangerous times, I don’t want a candidate who doesn’t know what he’s talking about in Iran or Pakistan, and can’t figure out who his foreign policy advisors are, probably because he doesn’t have any to speak of. The third leg is fiscal conservatism. Job doesn’t mention that the results of Huck lowering taxes “every chance he got” was a net tax INCREASE of $505.1 million

but Huckabee wasn't done. He claimed former UN Ambassador John Bolton as a foreign policy adviser - which Bolton immediately denied, saying they had never even spoken. Now he's done the same with former Reagan National Security Adviser Richard Allen, reports Lisa Lerer at The Politico: Reached via e-mail, Allen said an intermediary asked him to speak with Huckabee, but he hadn't yet agreed. "I'm gradually getting older, but am fully capable of recalling with whom I have spoken," said the former Nixon and Reagan foreign policy

I have a feeling that his foot-in-mouth syndrome will catch up to him soon, whether it's claiming that he spoke to John Bolton about foreign policy when Bolton confirmed that they never did, claiming the country is being overrun by illegal Pakistanis, or ... well, the rest should be left to Vodkapundit, who put the hilarious smackdown on Iowa voters today. THOMPSON: Is he still running?

Huckabee has also claimed that former Ambassador John Bolton is among his advisers. Bolton would also be a great asset to any candidate. Perhaps Huckabee was trying to earn my vote? Whatever the case is, like Gaffney, Bolton was asked about this and responds memorably. In recent days, Mike Huckabee has tried to answer long-standing questions about who is on his foreign policy team. On Friday morning, he listed former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton as someone with whom he either has “spoken or will continue to
