    MEDIA, beware!

in Iraq, went AWOL on capitalism’s meltdown, delegating his economic adviser to release an anodyne two-sentence statement of confidence in Ben Bernanke. This is consistent with Mr. McCain’s laissez-faire approach to economic matters. In January he proposed tasking any problems to “a committee headed by Alan Greenspan, whether he’s alive or dead.” This witty salvo must be very comforting to the large share of Americans — the largest since the Great Depression

    Weekend at Johnny’s

Plays host to some 30 political allies at his Sedona retreat. Group includes Minnesota Gov. Pawlenty, but Florida Gov. Crist had to cancel. (Note: This post’s headline and picture are homage to one of McCain’s most well-received campaign trail jokes.)

    Bad news

But, when McCain speaks for himself, he wants something very different; namely, he says he’ll appoint Greenspan, dead or alive, to create a new tax structure and to restrict Congress to only an up or down vote on whatever. So... that’s leadership? President Bush was smart to speak in general terms about what he wants on "stimulus" today, and to mention a few things he won’t support. Behind the
