In social media time, three years ago is a lifetime. Back three years ago, Facebook wasn't in the movie theaters; Twitter sounded like something you'd catch on public transportation; and, 12seconds.tv was a cool little video blogging tool that had some promise.

Fast forward to today and 12seconds.tv is toast. Their 15 minutes of fame is up.

In an email to users, Sol Lipman, the founder of 12seconds.tv, wrote:

Today we are announcing the end of 12seconds.

Why? As you probably know, everything has a life cycle. 12seconds is in its twilight. After all the new product launches and attempts at a revenue model, fundraising with VCs and late night coding sessions with Jacob hunched over his monitors - it's time to call it. It is time to end 12seconds.

If you want to get your videos from 12seconds.tv, don't fret. The company is releasing a tool that will allow users to download their stuff.

The plug on the company is going to be pulled on October 22nd, according to the email, and those that have any questions or want to say goodbye can do so by sending a note to goodbye@12seconds.tv.
