5 Reasons to "Cold Email" Other Bloggers

Yesterday I read an article on "cold emailing" and I had to chuckle for several reasons.

Number one: I have experience with sales, so I know what a cold call is. "Cold emails" aren't on the same planet as cold calls.

Number two: It's just an email.

Sending cold emails (much like cold calls in the business world) is a vital activity with regards to promoting your blog. Here are 5 reasons that you should do it.

1 - Most Bloggers Like to Receive Emails

I am always pleased when I get an email from another blogger. It lets me know that they've read my blog or at least see enough value in what I do to contact me.

99% of the bloggers that I've emailed have responded pleasantly to me. I've never been e-admonished by another blogger for sending an email.

2 - High Return/Low Risk

In most endeavors, it takes a large risk to reap a large reward. That isn't true when it comes to contacting other bloggers. You can establish a high quality relationship or get a huge traffic boost by simply sending an email to the right person. The two largest traffic bumps in my blog's history came on the heels of emails to strangers.

3 - Quickest ROI

It has been said that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. If there is something you want from another blogger, the quickest way to get it is to ask. You can beat around the bush by posting comments, participating in forums, and wishing upon a star if you like. I prefer asking for what I need. Scientific tests have proven that this method is about 8 zillion times faster.
