Anonymous Reaches Far Beyond the Digital World - Page 2
The interesting element of this is that there are people who are saying the lawlessness must be stopped. Is this to say that just because the police are doing the beating that it is lawful?
Anonymous recorded a message to the Fullerton police. They are asking that the Chief of Police resign, the cops associated with the beating be prosecuted and that $5 million be awarded to the family of Kelly Thomas. They have threatened to completely dismantle the Fullerton police website and all of its communications.
In other retaliation, Anonymous hacked the BART police website releasing the personal information of 102 of its officers.
There are all kinds of questions regarding the legality of what Anonymous is doing. Of course we know it to be unlawful.
Believe it or not, there is a moral compass here. Anonymous represents everything that the common folk wants to be able to say and do but cannot because they are powerless and have no voice that is truly listened to.
Anonymous is not inspiring the violence currently taking place on the East Coast. Their messages are against the violence that has been brought down upon the citizens by those who are relied on to protect and to serve.
BART will have to answer in other ways than Anonymous attacks. It is widely believed that BART has violated the Constitution by blocking cell access. They may have had their reasons for doing so; however, many citizens have made valid arguments as to why this is wrong. The arguments are pretty hard to disagree with.
Was that not lawlessness?
One thing we know for sure is that the freedom of speech and the right to voice opinion without resorting to violence is indeed lawful.
