Applebee’s Using Social Media to Bring Back "Girl's Night Out"
Today it seems that everyone is busy — busy with school, busy with work, busy with family obligations, busy with life in general.
It's hard to get away sometimes and hang out with your buddies or girlfriends. You'd figure that planning such activities would be easy with the help of smart phones and other technology, including social media.
Well, Applebee’s is banking on just that.
Today the company is helping the ladies out there with scheduling "Girl's Night Out" with the help of the Applebee Facebook Page.
Beginning today through June 5, the Applebee’s Facebook Fan Page allows guests to send a GNO invite, with time, date, Applebee’s location – and even a personalized message. The tool also allows lets Fans keep track of events they’re hosting, attending or both.
According to a poll of women on Applebee’s Facebook Fan page, only 9 percent get together weekly with friends, while 34 percent responded “Never … get me a drink fast.”
“Applebee’s is convinced that girls STILL want to have fun, so we’re doing all we can to make it easier to have ‘girl time’ happen at Applebee’s,” said Becky Johnson, senior vice president, marketing and culinary for Applebee’s Services, Inc.
As a content tie-in to the program, the company is hosting a GNO Photo Contest. Fans can upload pics from their event and Applebee’s Facebook Fans will select their favorite. The top three vote-getters each week for the next four weeks will receive a $50 Applebee’s Gift Card.
