The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the most prestigious cancer research and care centers in the country, has launched a blog that focuses solely on cancer-related topics.

The Insight blog features expert perspectives on the latest cancer discoveries and treatment options, tips for patients and families coping with cancer, and inspirational stories from patients. One of the goals of the blog is to supply information that isn’t available from traditional media outlets. Dana-Farber says that information will include updates from major medical conferences.

Steven Singer, senior vice president of communications at Dana-Farber, said: “By sharing this information and these stories in Insight, we can help people affected by cancer to be better informed about new advances.”

Dana-Farber says it’s the first New England hospital to publish a blog dedicated to cancer-related topics.

Recent posts on the blog include:

• A video commentary by Dana-Farber’s Dr. Harold Burstein on highlights from the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
• Tips for coping with cancer during the holidays.
• A report on research presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology.
• A video interview with Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
