Here are some of the reasons for all the panic:

  • Website owners feel that they will not have any access to valuable data.
  • They will know that someone did search, but “who” and “what” exactly will not be available, so it has created concerns regarding the SEO friendliness of this change.
  • SEO traffic can be reported, but exact keywords and query terms will not be reported, hence website owners performing a keyword analysis for conversions shall not have enough data from these searches (from logged in users.)

Google suggests that you can still get your data regarding most popular searches from Google Webmaster Tools. Website owners and webmasters think that there is no reason to distinguish between signed in users and the ones that are not

Don't panic

As Google tries to enhance user experience and add privacy to internet searches, you need to remember something very important. this only applies if the user is logged in. according to Google itself, there are less than 10% of users matching this criteria. Hence, I don't think that there are reasons to panic and this is not the end of keyword analysis. there are still 90% of Google users one can base his analysis on
