Gowalla Opens the Book on Campus Recruiting Effort
Austin, Texas-based Gowalla Inc. is heading to school.
On Sept. 15, the location-based social networking service will launch its Gowalla U initiative with a recruiting visit to the University of California, Berkeley.
“We’re a growing company,” Gowalla says on its website, “and we’re looking for some cool cats who are ready to work on something remarkable that’s changing the way people share and discover.”
Gowalla invites students at Berkeley to hang out with its recruiters at a joint called Jupiter “for some fresh pizza and completely sick micro-brews.” For you old-timers out there, “completely sick” means “really good.”
Gowalla says it hasn’t finalized its Gowalla U schedule, but stops after Berkeley will include:
• University of Texas at Austin, Sept. 21-22
• MIT, Sept. 23.
• Harvard University, Sept. 24.
• Stanford University, Oct. 5.
Gowalla says that if your school isn’t on the recruiting list but you want it to be, shoot an email to campus@gowalla.com with the subject line Gowalla U.
The company also is beefing up its on-campus representative program. If you’re enrolled at a college or university and love “rocking” Gowalla, send an email to campus@gowalla.com with your school, major, extracurricular activities and snail-mail address.
“If you’re up for helping us rocking Gowalla on your campus, we definitely want to hear from you, and we’re also going to send you a starter box of goodies for your campus,” the company says.
