How Much Does Golf Cost?
Ever wonder how much you spend on golf in one season? I have heard people say it's an expensive sport but I wanted to know how much I actually spend on the game I love.
I spent the entire season tracking every penny I spent on a round of golf (not including gas but that can be calculated) so I can tell you, my readers, what it actually cost to play golf for an entire season. Without further hesitation, I give you The Cost of a Golf Season.
The Cost of a Golf Season
It all started on March 22, 2010. I spent $16 to walk 18 holes at Bunker Hill in Princeton, New Jersey. The last money spent, $200 on October 29, 2010, at Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey.
The grand total: $4,252
(Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey is worth every penny.... and then some)
Where Did the Money Go
The bulk of it was golf but it's funny how the "little" things add up. Here's a breakdown of where some of the money was spent:
Golf: I played 34 rounds of golf this year. The total cost, $2,744. This includes when I walked, used a cart, or took a caddy. The average round of golf for me cost $80.70. The cheapest round was $16, walking 18 holes at a public course in March. The most expensive was $205 at The Boca Raton Resort in Boca Raton, Florida. This also factors in my golf trips but not lodging (lodging was $217).
Apparel: The second largest expense was apparel. This is what I was referring to as the "little things". Without realizing it, I managed to spend $605 on apparel. Some of this was necessary such as the golf short from Aronimink (I was soaked from the rain), a pair of golf shorts, gloves, and a rain jacket. The rest, ball markers (I collect them) and a few additional golf shirts. I spent $100 in Pine Valley's shop and could have easily spent $100 more if I had the money.
