Kevin SmithSo filmmaker Kevin Smith found a real use for social media a few days ago, when he tweeted the entire experience of being tossed off of a Southwest flight for being too fat.  You can hear the whole story at Smodcast if you want.

Predictably, the clout of someone with 1.7 million followers talking about being treated badly by an airline resulted in an apologies on Southwest's  Twitter stream (you can bet if it happens to you, you won't see a tweet that reads: "I've read the tweets all night from @thatkevinsmith - He'll be getting a call at home from our Customer Relations VP tonight.  You know, with YOUR Twitter ID in place of Smith's) and blog.

So it's good for something, this Twitter thing, even if Smith still missed his flight.
