Outlook Goes Kinda Buzzy, Adds Facebook, LinkedIn, and MySpace Integration
Last November, Microsoft announced the beta of the Outlook Social Connector (OSC), a tool which would allow integration of social networks into your Outlook inbox. It was built into the Office 10 beta and available as an add-in for Office 2003 and office 2007. Today, it gets all social on your ass.
Microsoft has announced an updated beta of the OSC along with the immediate availability of the public beta of LinkedIn for Outlook. More importantly though, they've also announced partnerships with both Facebook and MySpace, which pretty much three-ups Buzz (which doesn't yet integrate with any of the three).
Of course, Buzz actually works already, and it appears that OSC is only available for 32 bit Office right now. There also seems to be a bit of confusion among the players about what works where (MS says it's for the 2010 beta, Facebook seems to think it's for all versions), but they'll sort that out. Eventually. Probably.
It's all just another step closer to making it easier to waste time anywhere, any time.
