Pinterest Is The Web's Newest Darling
There's a new craze hitting the internet and taking the Web by storm. It is a newer and different social network platform coming out of nowhere. Its name? You guessed it, Pinterest!
It is a social site where users can "pin" images and lets them share interest, showcase what they love, and write comments on people's postings on the site.
In fact, according to Web information company Alexa, Pinterest has surged in recent months to become the 16th most-visited site in the US and Europe.
Pinterest is also in the news due to a huge media interest and the site's meteoric rise to fame.
Another report claimed that Pinterest's popularity has exploded in recent months, making it one of the fastest-growing websites in history that accumulated more monthly visitors faster than Facebook and Twitter!
Interesting stuff you can do on Pinterest include things such as exploring subjects on home decorating, cooking, fitness, design, share pictures and recipes, plan a wedding, and post art collections.
The growth of Pinterest has been fueled primarily by women and some men in the 25 to 44 year old demographic, with baby boomers and young adults likely to be the generations who spend most of their time on house, garden, sports, fitness, and family-oriented websites.
Currently, access to Pinterest is by invitation only, so those looking to join the site need to request one from the company or ask a friend already on it.
Facebook and Twitter, better watch out.
