Salesforce Unveils Social.com
Salesforce.com has grown considerably from its early days as a cloud based CRM system. It is now a fully fledged player in the rapidly growing social business industry.
Most of this growth has come via acquisition, with the likes of Rypple and Radian6 bought to beef up their offering, and it's Radian6 that sit at the center of their new Social.com platform.
The move to consolidate the company's social marketing products came after the acquisition of Buddy Media recently. This gave Salesforce a three pronged offering, consisting of listening via Radian6, publishing via Buddy Media, and branding via Social.com.
Salesforce hope that it will become a one stop shop for agencies and other organizations looking to take a self-service approach to marketing.
They believe the offering is the first of its kind in providing users with a connection between their CRM system, their social listening and social advertising.
This will offer marketers the opportunity to draw upon conversations from more than 500 million sources to inform their advertising decisions online.
Having all of this information in one place makes setting up a social ad campaign a ten minute job.
"The idea is that we’re trying to bring agencies a lot closer with brands to make these campaigns easy and efficient," explained Gordon Evans, vice president of product marketing for the Salesforce Marketing Cloud unit.
Social.com is available to clients immediately, but real-time listening and CRM integration won't be added until this summer.
