Twitter Launches Email Digest of Your Best Tweets
Last week Twitter purchased RestEngine, a company that provides email marketing services. The purchase came hot on the heels of a similar purchase of Summify, and I wrote recently about these two acquisitions paving the way for Twitter to offer email 'digests' of your best tweets.
Well you don't have to wait any longer, as Twitter officially announced that they would be doing just that yesterday.
The feature is available via the notification settings part of your profile and will deliver a weekly email digest to your inbox. The digest will contain the most engaging tweets shared by the people you follow on Twitter.
It will also include some hot stories from your network. This will work in a similar way to the recently added 'Discover' tab, with tweets emphasizing who shared each story alongside a summary of that story to help you decide if it's of interest to you. You can then click the headline to read the full story and then tweet your thoughts, all from within the email. Pretty cool.
The email will also include some of the best tweets from the network of those you follow, even if you don't follow them yourself. As before, you can retweet, favorite or reply from within the email.
The digest will be fully rolled out over the coming weeks so one to keep an eye on.
