Want the New Facebook Timeline Feature Now? Here's How!
The 2011 Facebook Developer’s Conference, held earlier this week in San Francisco, had a number of soon-to-be changes revealed by CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg. One that will have an incredible impact is the Timeline profile feature, which takes the quick-glimpse you now get (work, relationship, location, employment) and turns it into a potentially life-long scrapbook.

Timeline, when activated, allows you to turn your most important details shared on Facebook in a long-page magazine format. More recent items are detailed in alternating wide-screen images, small screen updates, and even important app-related items. You customize as you please, placing additional items to fill in the gaps if you’d like.
The Timeline feature will be rolled out to all users over the next few weeks, so if you wait long enough, it will be there for you to activate. There is a bit of a learning curve to it, but I believe most people will enjoy having a place with some level of permanence to share their most important events and accomplishments with others.
Would you like to give the Timeline feature a whirl today? If you’re willing to register with Facebook as a developer (no strings or work attached,) you can have it within five minutes. Here’s how...
If you search for Developer in the Facebook search window, you’ll see a few options. You want to make sure you choose the Developer App. It’s got well over a million users on it now (up quite a bit since the Timeline release.) You can also use this link to go there directly.
Add the app to your Facebook account, in order to obtain access to features only released to developers. Give the app permission to connect with Facebook.
By the way, this will also provide you access to other “beta” (in testing) features from Facebook in the future to try out before others.
The Developer app ought to open for you now. If not, find it on the left-hand side with your other app links to open it.
