Wanted: Social Media Gurus
In the past year, social media has exploded. Both the capabilities of social media as well as the use of different forms of social media have grown outstandingly.
More and more people are flocking to social media both for networking and for business. With billions of users, it is only suitable that businesses have taken notice of the trend in social media and have jumped on board.
Easily reaching millions upon millions of consumers is something that is desired by businesses, and social media has provided that avenue of contact. "This has been the year where every organization has come to realize the importance of social media, rather than just a handful of organizations," said Augie Ray, a Forrester Research analyst who specializes in social computing.
With more and more businesses taking advantage of social media, job opportunities are opening for people that understand social media, and are experts on using it.
Everyone will admit that the first time that they signed up for Facebook or for Twitter, they were a little confused on how exactly to use it, and we will definitely admit that we did not know how to use it effectively. That is why businesses are hiring people mainly for running their entire social media campaigns.
It is common knowledge that social media has great power. Dell Inc. reported that over $3 million was generated from sales that stemmed from their Twitter account. These sales did not come from common use of a single Twitter account. These sales came from the work and efforts of a team of social media experts that Dell hired. Obviously, results were generated.
Social media gurus are in high demand. When there is profit to be made, a business or a company will find a way to make this profit. Currently, there is profit to be made from successful social media campaigns. Whether it is on Facebook, Twitter, Digg, or any other social media site, companies want to more effectively use these resources. The only way that they can maximize their potential in these areas is to hire the people that know how to do so.
When certain search engines such as Google, Ask, and Yahoo first came onto the scene, search engine optimization expertise was wanted. Now, it is social media expertise that is wanted. In the context of one of the social media giants, Twitter, social media jobs are “trending.”
